It really is going all too quickly, as usual. Gruyeres looking not quite so festive as it did in the snow but still like a Hollywood set.
And we ate last night in the Ramparts Restaurant, which during our Christmas visit had been closed. To our delight this time it was open and as you can see from the pictures, we were really lucky to get a seat and table for two. (Cough, cough).
It’s an L shaped configuration and it was wonderful to have the staff all to ourselves. I swear as we left after a few steps we heard the front door being bolted behind us. 😱
We had done some light shopping yesterday in the co-op, with Safi riding on the back of the trolley and dear auntie Hannah pushing. As a chicken got put into the basket and someone said ‘great there’s the chicken’ an odd deep, guttural voice said, “Nobody calls me chicken!” Hannah collapsed with laughter (and if you haven’t seen any of the Back to the Future films this will mean absolutely nothing to you) because it was Safi doing her best Michael J. Fox impersonation from having seen many videos of Back to the Future. Perfect delivery and the rest of us in hysterics.
It still is pretty cold with snow forecast for Sunday but as you can see, it’s not exactly balmy weather now and the deer are grateful for their daily bail of hay.
Ah! Yes the hire car, is a Renault scenic; with an odd see through screen that comes up in front of the windscreen, showing direction, your speed, the legal limit and how the car is performing. Never seen one like it but stops you looking down all the time. A very clever safety device.
So, the scenery is beautiful, the food and wine excellent and Zach arrived home just as we were leaving; lots of hugs and kisses to be caught up on tomorrow! It all looks very Swiss.
And that view from our balcony not in the mist looks like this:
And more presents, cake and surprises for the beautiful birthday girl tomorrow.
As always, take care, and thank you for reading.
