Tuesday; they let us on the train!πŸš‚πŸš‚πŸš‚

Thanks to the concierge at the Hotel, the lovelyΒ Kirsten’s endeavours last night with the Rocky Mountaineer folk, we made it in the train this morning without a voucher! Bless her she got them to email our details and reservation number to her. She printed it off and gave it to us and bingo…………………”all aboard!”

A pianist entertained us in the station hall; now you don’t get that at Waterloo! And then a piper, pipped us aboard. Really? And then breakfast, salmon and scrambled eggs, and a very wonderful journey began.

The scenery once again was out of this world. The service was second to none and the food and drink just kept coming.

Again a short one tonight (hurrah!) but you can see how stunning it was and also including those mega goods trains once again; it’s the whole of that line and more in the distance in the first picture below.

A cheeky hitch hiker on the window and more glorious views.

A coach right on the platform to transport us to the hotel, booked by the train folk not Audley and ………………. collapse. Hopefully our vouchers for the rest of the trip will be at our hotel tomorrow night. God knows what happened to the ‘bible’ (Audley itinerary) absolutely no contact from National car hire.

This is Kanloops and goodnight everybody, goodnight!

Malcolm and Mary

Malcolm worked for LWT. Mary worked for TRL. They live near Camberley in Surrey and did achieve their life long ambition to visit New Zealand. They have two daughters Laura and Hannah and two grandchildren Zach & Safi. Having done the big trip they then went to Canada, which was amazing. Scroll down it’s all here. They have visited Venice that they both so fell in love with in 2009 again. And recently returned to Lefkada for one week in glorious sunshine. Where next? Well, Canada is calling again in 2019; this time including Alaska. So stay tuned if you enjoy the ups and downs of travelling.

  1. That’s good news that you were still able to ride the RM! Si said he knows Malcolm’s got influence but what did he do to ensure they laid on that train especially for you? Was there anyone else on it with you? Love the bridge photos and the lake looks as though it could be in Scotland. When we were stood in the long queue at Avis I said to Si that Malcolm was impressed with National and perhaps we should give them a try! Maybe not know though! We are going back to Hertz, Si’s a Gold member with them. He’s an Avis Preferred customer too but this time our car was booked by Avios so that didn’t count! How awful you must have felt when you realised you had left the itinerary in the car. I expect the Returns guys just gathered up the paperwork and chucked it in the bin. Still, I’m sure Audley will get you sorted out in a jiffy and harmony will be restored. Doesn’t seem possible that you are in to your last two weeks. How time flies when you are enjoying yourselves. πŸ˜€

    1. Hire car companies vary SO much. Ha! The trains empty because I took that shot when rows 1 to 32 had gone for lunch. We were in 33, so we’re second sitting. πŸ˜€ Yes the feeling was pretty awful when we lost the bible! And you are right probably in a trash bin somewhere. But it was like a big Filofax. Hey, ho. So full we couldn’t eat tonight, or felt up to using the swimming pool! Bugger! Never mind day two tomorrow and back to Jasper and our lovely Greek run restaurant, if we are not too stuffed again.
