Saturday; It rained but they need it!

The advantage a B&B always has for us over an hotel, is that at breakfast you talk to other people. You exchange where, what, how was it for you, over your coffee and muesli. In an hotel you tend to sit on your own and talk to no one except the waiter/waitress. Although this is a boutique hotel (wherever they came from?) we did sit separately at breakfast but maybe tomorrow we might exchange a few pleasantaries and ask folk how their day went, assuming we see the same people! Trouble is quite often the turnaround is just one day for some people.

Anyway we plumped for the inside of a hop on, hop off tour bus 🚌 in order to familiarise ourselves with the geography of the place. It really is quite pretty, interesting and cute in it’s own way. It has a Chinese quarter, second oldest to San Fransisco and some fascinating shops and a big dock and port area. I really don’t think we will be here long enough to do it justice. Below a typical fire hydrant and floral orca!

There were some lovely flower displays outside large hotels various.

We then went back to the hotel grabbed the car and headed off for a light lunch. On the way were gulls and some beautiful houses. Very like Sandbanks in Dorset and probably in the same price bracket. £££££££

We cruised down the coastline and finally at one point, where we stopped, on foot and rounding a corner Mary discovered why the pigeons were so tame and even young gulls didn’t seem phased by human beings.

We passed a rather nice looking restaurant at a marina at Oak Bay; we have booked a table for tonight and a taxi. Tomorrow we are being picked up at 0930 to go whale watching; πŸ‹ assuming we can see them through the ocean mist and fog.

Mary once again captured some great shots but accidentally interrupted a young man doing his exercises on the foreshore. Well, at least I think that’s what he was doing. 😱

Shot of the day I think goes to Mary’s peacock. So we shall leave it there.

Blue isn’t he? Thanks for reading; rain forecast for tomorrow. Never mind we really are having a ball. Oh and the fire is broken, so picture of that tomorrow I hope. Just to wet your appetite, I give you these two! The fire can be seen from the bathroom and bedroom; hopefully the shots will explain! Night, night!
