Saturday, the air has cleared.

I did mean to say about Thursday that it was such a long day I had two afternoon teas; and that’s a first! One in the lounge at Heathrow; well the flight was delayed! And they served afternoon tea on the plane about an hour before we landed. P.S. The room has a balcony!

Everybody we over hear, is just so excited that precipitation is on its way and the wind in front of it has at last cleared the air. The poor folk of Vancouver, apparently have for many, many days been living in smoke and unable to see the blue sky or even their mountains. But now the thought of rain has raised their excitement levels almost to crisis point.

So here I am, just hanging out!

We meanwhile, toddled off to Granville island on a tiny little ferry and hit the many markets. Found the most amazing broom shop; the smell was out of this world. Paused for lunch and Malcolm had a rather naff piece of swordfish, so cold it was sent back twice but, quite rightly not put on the bill!

And finally we took a taxi to Gastown, where we watched a steam clock chime the quarter and didn’t bother paying two dollars to look at a shrine to Bob Marley and Jimmy Hendrix, which was closed anyway when we got there! Oh yes and we saw some new faces today.

So, tomorrow is the float plane ride! But rain is forecast and for ex LWT folk who remember, we hopefully are meeting Ken Shane for ‘brunch’! Watch this space.

Malcolm and Mary

Malcolm worked for LWT. Mary worked for TRL. They live near Camberley in Surrey and did achieve their life long ambition to visit New Zealand. They have two daughters Laura and Hannah and two grandchildren Zach & Safi. Having done the big trip they then went to Canada, which was amazing. Scroll down it’s all here. They have visited Venice that they both so fell in love with in 2009 again. And recently returned to Lefkada for one week in glorious sunshine. Where next? Well, Canada is calling again in 2019; this time including Alaska. So stay tuned if you enjoy the ups and downs of travelling.

  1. Ha, ha, very good Malcolm, ‘The Hang Out Place’, you look very ‘cool’. Wouldn’t mind one of those brooms. That’s my problem, always want to bring back way too much and always end up having to buy another suitcase! Pleased to see the blue skies have arrived. Mary, good on you for eating two cream teas. I would have done the same. That’s what holidays are all about, doing things you wouldn’t normally do.

    1. No, no, it was Malcolm who ate the two cream teas! Which is why he has to go to Slimming World and Mary doesn’t! Yes those brooms, all made on the premises were just to die for! You could buy small ones for the car……….a missed opportunity! 😉
