Wednesday, just a lazy, hazy, crazy day.

We were beaten to our favourite spot by the dreaded German technique of towels on sun loungers. Which it does say in the hotel rules that it is not allowed. Try telling them that we cried, as we approached our favourite place only to stop in our tracks and gaze at the ‘reserved’ places.

Drat those Germans.
Drat those Germans.

Its just such a nice corner. Handy for the steps, away from the smokers and I can do my getting on and off the lounger like a beached whale in relative privacy. And a lovely little wall to sit on. Ah well, let’s pick up that smoking thread.

Now correct me if I’m wrong but wasn’t the ban on smoking in restaurants an EU directive? I’m not against people smoking outside but when the godam tables are inside and someone lights up that’s when I get annoyed. The Greeks seem not to have embraced this idea at all yet. Ashtrays on the tables is a kind of giveaway that nothing has changed. But what really annoys me is Brits who come here and light up, knowing they couldn’t do that in their own country, so can someone please tell me why they should come and do it here?

Rant over. Sunny, three swims and watching the boats go by. Busy, busy, busy. A very strange stealth boat appeared for lunch in the bay. Non military, so goodness knows what that was all about.

Oooooh, err, Mrs, what on earth is that?
Oooooh, err, Mrs, what on earth is that?

Folk were sun bathing on the stern as it left, so I don’t think even the Greek navy would allow that! The views from the swimming jetty are just fabulous.

The village is in the distance.
The village is in the distance. The clouds stayed put.
Yes those are our towels below but we arrived with them!

So that was that was the day. A pizza for lunch, a couple of beers and …………relax.

The late afternoon light is spell binding.

A cloud. Outrageous!
A cloud. Outrageous!

I listened to Brian Manby on RFP, coming through loud and clear. This time jigging around to Glen Miller and ‘In the Mood’. Tomorrow maybe guilt at just sitting again will well up and we may drive off and ‘do’ something. We shall see. Decisions like that can’t be rushed or hurried.

Pretty!
Pretty!
To end the day you can sit by the pool bar, in really compfy seats.

The other thing about our other guests is they never stop talking. You go for a quiet time by the sea, your favourite spot has been stolen and when they do arrive they get in the water and swim and talk at a very high volume. Peace? I’d love some. Grumpy old man over and out.

Thanks for reading. πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜‰ Seriously it was a beautiful day. Take care M & M πŸ·πŸΈπŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ·

Malcolm and Mary

Malcolm worked for LWT. Mary worked for TRL. They live near Camberley in Surrey and did achieve their life long ambition to visit New Zealand. They have two daughters Laura and Hannah and two grandchildren Zach & Safi. Having done the big trip they then went to Canada, which was amazing. Scroll down it’s all here. They have visited Venice that they both so fell in love with in 2009 again. And recently returned to Lefkada for one week in glorious sunshine. Where next? Well, Canada is calling again in 2019; this time including Alaska. So stay tuned if you enjoy the ups and downs of travelling.

  1. Oh dear, Germans and smokers!! Double whammy. I go with Martin, drop those pesky towels in the pool! How rude, they never change! It’s very annoying when you find a favourite spot and then someone takes it away. It really is a lovely looking destination.

    1. I used to smoke, so I think we are the worst people to get miffed. Non never smoked folk don’t seem to get so upset. Yes lovely gaff and SO lucky with the weather this week. The forecast on Saturday was very iffy, but has proved not to be so!

  2. Re the Kraut Towels… Do what I did in Ibiza (before it became a drug crazed party place)…. I removed them and dropped them in the pool… They arrived back from a very extended breakfast, full of rage but could do absolutely nothing..Especially as we smiled so sweetly… MG

  3. I think the sinister black craft is a marine OB unit for Beached Whalewatch.
Note the one-way glazed panels near the waterline and the comms gear on the roof!!

    F.

    1. Crumbs, that means they are after me Frank! 😜
I think we may go shopping for the grandchildren tomorrow. Which means a trip to Nidri, where I swear, if they could get hold of it, they would still be selling Watneys Red Barrel!
