Wednesday in Wanaka in the wain. But not a lot!

So we arrived last night at Wanaka Springs looking as though we had been evicted from our last dwelling. Our hosts John and Glynis already had heard of our adventure and knew we would be arriving late. There was no phone signal at all on the speedy journey to let them know anything but by the time we got there at 6-30pm (they were not expecting us till 8pm!!) they knew all about it, even the police involvement! Luckily they have a happy hour every evening between 6 and 7 with free drinks and nibbles, so we couldn’t have arrived at a better or more needy time.

The breakfast at Wanaka Springs is as good as they get and the town boasts 32 restaurants. So you tend not to starve.

We went back to Hawea Lake, that we had passed so quickly yesterday and then had a beer in town and then headed for the Toy and Transport museum. So many exhibits and we felt we could have supplied quite a few ourselves! It does say something when you realise your childhood is staring back at you from a museum cabinet!

And Mary of course found lots to shoot.

Thanks for reading and I think we are almost back on track! Phew!

Malcolm and Mary

Malcolm worked for LWT. Mary worked for TRL. They live near Camberley in Surrey and did achieve their life long ambition to visit New Zealand. They have two daughters Laura and Hannah and two grandchildren Zach & Safi. Having done the big trip they then went to Canada, which was amazing. Scroll down it’s all here. They have visited Venice that they both so fell in love with in 2009 again. And recently returned to Lefkada for one week in glorious sunshine. Where next? Well, Canada is calling again in 2019; this time including Alaska. So stay tuned if you enjoy the ups and downs of travelling.
