Napier to Wellington

Mostly a travelling day. We said farewell to Napier with more folk gathering for the “Art Deco” few days.

The six sisters are quite a landmark.

Difficult to get all six in the frame without including two lamp posts.

It really looked like everyone was going to have a hoot and people saying farewell to one another said,”See you after Deco!” We had dinner in the same restaurant two nights running “The Emporium” was its name and the food was delicious. The Queen & Prince Phillip stayed there on their honeymoon. So we figured if it was good enough for her majesty then……

Some great buildings in Napier.

Had someone put their mind to it, they could have done quite a few Poirot episodes right here.

And the wardrobe department was right here already!

So we sped towards Wellington. Got the hire car back, for it is the ferry to the South Island for us on Friday. The lady bade me,”Good day Mr Treen,” even before I announced myself! Tomorrow our chum Keith has offered to take us around a la Martin did in North Auckland, for a half day treat. And he has worked out a little itinerary for us in the morning. So another bed and another view, this time of the harbour and the fantastic blue sky that sits outside our room.

The scenery on the way.

So once again many thanks for sticking with us! Not long now and you will stop getting the emails and saying,”Oh God it’s the Treen’s again!” I hope we are making it as entertaining as we can to read. When we settle next time a few thoughts on the Maori feast may emerge. Take care M & M

Malcolm and Mary

Malcolm worked for LWT. Mary worked for TRL. They live near Camberley in Surrey and did achieve their life long ambition to visit New Zealand. They have two daughters Laura and Hannah and two grandchildren Zach & Safi. Having done the big trip they then went to Canada, which was amazing. Scroll down it’s all here. They have visited Venice that they both so fell in love with in 2009 again. And recently returned to Lefkada for one week in glorious sunshine. Where next? Well, Canada is calling again in 2019; this time including Alaska. So stay tuned if you enjoy the ups and downs of travelling.

  1. Hi M&M, we are both loving your blog and following your adventures. You have some great photos. They will make a great book. We’ve never been to NZ so it’s great seeing it through your eyes. Continue to enjoy, it passes all too quickly!! Sandra

  2. It sounds as though you are continuing to have that holiday of a lifetime. Well done you. Enjoy your trip and then the journey to South Island. Jackie continues to get better. Senior Management persona definitely well established once again. Love David (& Jackie)
